After working in the corporate world for 32 years, Lisa Dowd made a life-changing decision. At age 50, she turned her passion for cooking into her profession and started a food truck business.
A big fan of Rachael Ray, Julia Child and Ina Garten, Lisa has always been passionate about cooking. She loves cheese and wine, so she chose to add a twist to good old grilled cheese sandwiches by adding a gourmet touch.
Until inspiration hit her during a trip to Boston, the Cheesy Street Grill food truck was Lisa’s primary business. Then she realized that there wasn’t anything like her homemade comfort food being sold at the service plazas on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Lisa decided to open two restaurants on the Mass Pike to serve weary travelers searching for a convenient and tasty meal.
Cheesy Street Grill uses high-quality ingredients for their prize-winning sandwiches, soups and other comfort foods. Great service is also one of Lisa’s priorities: “We treat our customers like extended family—we know they’re weary from a long trip, or maybe frustrated with their daily commute, and we strive to make their days better.”
Next time you’re traveling near Boston, look up Cheesy Street Grill, a great alternative to the run-of-the-mill chain restaurants along the turnpike. Stop in for delicious food that tastes just like home.
