For Christl Marcontel Pilates is much more than a fitness class. She first encountered Pilates as a way to regain core strength for aerial dance after pregnancy. Following her mom's steps, a 3rd generation pilates teacher, she was then trained and certified by Romana Kryzanowska, the protegee of Joseph Pilates, the German physical trainer who invented and promoted the Pilates method of physical fitness.
At Kinesia Pilates, Christl and her team's goal is to create a responsive experience of authentic pilates.
"We want to uphold the value of Joe Pilates but at the same time we want to be responsive to what individuals need and so in that recent time we’ll adapt or adjust the exercises or the movements to the individual and help them grow stronger that way," she said.
Kinesia Pilates offers private lessons and small group classes, with schedules from 6 in the morning until 7 or 8 at night. The studio also offers athletic wear and locally-brewed Kombucha and drinks that support good health.
Kinesia Pilates is located at 314 First Ave South, in Seattle, WA.
